The 40' x 65’ classic bank barn dates between 1870 and 1880 and features rough sawn post and beam. \r\n\r\nPark at the farm entrance and proceed up the Farm road to the main fork and turn left. Follow the road into the forest and up to the open fields. This portion of the trail is the Hawk Hill Tree Trail that is part of the Connecticut Notable Tree Project.\r\n\r\nAs you continue on the white trail you will enter LaSallette Park where the trails hug active open farm fields. Enjoy the wonderful views as you make you way down to the 1834 Filley House. Extend your hike to the northeast portion of LaSallette Park where the trail crosses the pond dam and proceeds up an incline due north to a high point. This high point was once the top of a Town ski run and is the highest point in the center of Bloomfield.\r\n\r\nEnjoy your hike on the Hawk Hill Farm Trails. Access the wooded paths and meadow trails at the northern end of the property and head south. This preserve and trails are located just southeast of Reservoir #3, so it’s easy to stop by if you are in the area.\r\n\r\nThe Wash Brook runs through the center of the parcel and large oaks and cottonwoods can be seen from the path. Trails exist on either side of Wash Brook heading south and ending at Dorothy Drive. One trail to the east side of the meadow will require crossing Wash Brook. The other trail is at the south edge of the meadow. The Town of Bloomfield is working with its neighbors to extend northern Bloomfield’s multi-use trail (to Tariffville) southward, connecting with the East Coast Greenway Trail in Hartford and Windsor. One possible path or spur path would connect through the property and into the center of town.\r\n\r\nThis land was purchased with the help of a DEEP Open Space and Watershed Land Acquisition (OSWA) grant in August 2017. Along the gas line trail westward beyond a cliff edge are stunning views, especially in winter. Proceeding onto the MDC trails, enjoy views of the rock cliff that forms the Simsbury\/Bloomfield line.
