Comprised of detailed contours and hillshade with geographic names, public lands, animal locations and movements, roads, water bodies, and many other terrain and location markers. This map indicates Public Lands, with Migration (elk \/ deer) corridors so you know if you are in the right public area, when linked with your device's GPS technology. Mark locations with pins or trails to know where you've been and where you are heading. A must have reference map for the experienced hunter, and a necessity for those just getting into the sport. The only map on the market providing the previous years hunting statistic. The Grand Mesa is heavily forested and offers a wide variety of terrain: from the spruce, fir and aspen forests up to 11,000 feet, to the pinon, juniper woodlands at about 4,800 feet. Weather can vary as widely as the terrain. Motorized access is good but roads can become muddy. Hunters should obtain maps to avoid trespassing or unintentionally crossing private land. Respect motorized closures on public lands. Lower elevations are mainly private, especially in GMUs 411 and 52. Deer Hunting The deer population in these units is stable to slightly increasing. License numbers continue to be held steady at 1,060. Deer are found on high-elevation public land and private land during October. Some deer stay in lower elevation agricultural lands year-round. In late October deer generally migrate to lower elevation as the weather cools and snow starts to accumulate. During the later seasons many deer will be on private land, so hunters should plan accordingly. Hunting in aspen and oak brush can be productive. Hunters should obtain land ownership maps of this area. Elk Hunting: Elk in these GMUs are part of the greater Grand Mesa management areathat includes GMUs 41, 42 and 421 to the north. The herd is growing, well distributed and hunting is rated as good. Most elk will be at higher elevations during the seasonsÐabove 8,500 feet in thick timber and oak brush. Distribution changes in relation to weather and hunting pressure; so hunters should be prepared to adapt to conditions. Elk will generally move into more remote areas in response to pressure. Successful hunters generally stay well away from motorized access areas, especially in GMU 521. These units are managed for hunting opportunity, so most bulls are young. Hunting pressure is lowest during the limited first season.","brand":"Spirited Republic","offers":[{"title":"Default Title","offer_id":36433440112796,"sku":"1187537","price":9.99,"currency_code":"USD","in_stock":true}],"thumbnail_url":"\/\/cdn.shopify.com\/s\/files\/1\/0441\/7850\/5884\/files\/spirited-republic-2020-colorado-big-game-elk-deer-topo-hunt-public-lands-gmu-52-digital-map-34276100931740.jpg?v=1715068938","url":"https:\/\/store.avenza.com\/products\/2020-colorado-big-game-elkdeer-topo-hunt-public-lands-gmu-52-spirited-republic-map","provider":"Avenza Maps","version":"1.0","type":"link"}
