The terrain is classic high-plains landscape: rolling shortgrass prairie, dryland and irrigated cropland, CRP fields, sandhills, shallow creek drainages, and scattered shelterbelts. With huge horizons, minimal tree cover, and excellent visibility, GMU 103 is tailor-made for glassing and spot-and-stalk hunting.\r\n\r\nThis unit offers excellent pronghorn (antelope) hunting, with strong herds widespread across the open prairie and agricultural flats. Mule deer frequent creek bottoms, broken terrain, CRP patches, and sandhill edges. White-tailed deer are more localized, typically found near irrigation pivots, farmsteads, and riparian cover along shallow creeks. Because the unit is almost entirely private, hunters must rely on landowner permission or Colorado Parks \u0026amp; Wildlife’s Walk-In Access (WIA) program.\r\n\r\nGMU 103 is also well known for its upland bird hunting, especially for ring-necked pheasant, bobwhite quail, and mourning dove. Productive bird habitat includes CRP grass, weedy field edges, milo stubble, and the pockets of cover that form where agriculture, water, and native prairie meet.
