This unit blends high-plains prairie with increasingly rugged canyon country, including juniper-covered mesas, steep breaks, cholla flats, sagebrush hills, deep draws, and rolling grasslands. The terrain varies dramatically from open prairie in the north to rough canyon-and-rimrock systems in the south and west.\r\n\r\nGMU 125 offers excellent pronghorn (antelope) hunting, especially throughout the open prairie, agricultural edges, and rolling rangeland. Mule deer inhabit the canyons, juniper pockets, benches, rimrock edges, and broken terrain—often producing mature bucks that use rugged cover for bedding and escape routes. White-tailed deer occur in small pockets, primarily along creek bottoms, cottonwood-lined drainages, and irrigated field edges.\r\n\r\nPublic land is present in scattered blocks but the majority of the unit consists of private ranchland. Hunters must obtain landowner permission or make use of any Colorado Parks \u0026amp; Wildlife Walk-In Access (WIA) parcels available during the season. The blend of canyon breaks, prairie flats, and agricultural transitions creates a wide variety of productive hunting areas.\r\n\r\nUpland and small-game species include scaled quail, bobwhite quail, dove, coyote, fox, and jackrabbit.
