Each map includes spectacular 3D hillshade topography, contour lines, public-land ownership boundaries, major roads only, key terrain features, and hydrology.\r\n\r\nLose yourself in Colorado’s wide-open prairie and rolling rangeland — yet NEVER GET LOST!\r\n\r\nGMU 136 lies on the east-central plains of Colorado, covering portions of Lincoln, Cheyenne, and Kit Carson Counties near the communities of Arapahoe, Wild Horse, Cheyenne Wells, and Boyero. This landscape features vast shortgrass prairie, dryland farming areas, CRP fields, rangeland pastures, playa basins, prairie draws, and shallow creek systems. Terrain varies from nearly flat prairie in the east to gently rolling hills and drainages toward the west.\r\n\r\nGMU 136 supports excellent pronghorn (antelope) hunting, with herds distributed across the prairie, CRP grasslands, crop stubble, and rangeland. Mule deer use the brushy pockets, prairie draws, creek bottoms, and areas where rangeland meets agricultural fields. White-tailed deer occur in localized pockets along riparian corridors, cottonwood-lined drainages, and farmstead shelterbelts.\r\n\r\nAs with most eastern plains units, public land is extremely limited. The unit is dominated by private ranchland and agricultural properties, so hunters must secure landowner permission or rely on available Colorado Parks \u0026amp; Wildlife Walk-In Access (WIA) parcels during the season.\r\n\r\nUpland and small-game opportunities include ring-necked pheasant, bobwhite quail, scaled quail (localized), dove, coyote, fox, and jackrabbit. Bird numbers fluctuate with precipitation and habitat conditions but are often strong near CRP fields, weedy edges, and grain stubble.\r\n\r\nWhy Hunters Trust Our Maps\r\n\r\nGPS-accurate and works offline in the free Avenza Map app\r\n\r\n3D hillshade and contour lines reveal subtle plains rises and drainages\r\n\r\nPublic and private-land boundaries clearly displayed\r\n\r\nMajor roads only — clean, uncluttered navigation\r\n\r\nKey terrain features: Prairie drainages, CRP patches, crop edges, shelterbelts, playa basins, windmills, stock ponds, and rangeland transitions\r\n\r\nClean, easy-to-read layout built specifically for plains country\r\n\r\nMark your camps, glassing points, fence crossings, harvest sites, and upland bird fields\r\n\r\nCould save your life by allowing emergency personnel to pinpoint your exact location\r\n\r\nRecommended Hunting Targets in GMU 136\r\n\r\nBig Game: Pronghorn (primary), Mule Deer, White-Tailed Deer\r\n\r\nBirds: Pheasant, Bobwhite Quail, Scaled Quail (localized), Dove\r\n\r\nOther: Coyote, Fox, Jackrabbit, Small Game\r\n\r\nNote: GMU 136 is over 95% private land, making landowner permission essential for big-game access. Productive hunting typically occurs where native prairie meets agriculture, or in creek bottoms, CRP fields, weedy draws, and stubble-field edges.\r\n\r\nMobile Map Tips\r\n\r\nUse airplane mode to conserve battery and close background apps. Bring a backup battery or solar charger—cell coverage can be inconsistent across the plains. For pronghorn, glass from rises or pivot edges early and late. For deer, target drainages, brushy pockets, shelterbelts, and field transitions during low-light periods.","brand":"Map the Xperience","offers":[{"title":"Default Title","offer_id":45612680380572,"sku":"1715576","price":4.99,"currency_code":"USD","in_stock":true}],"thumbnail_url":"\/\/cdn.shopify.com\/s\/files\/1\/0441\/7850\/5884\/files\/map-the-xperience-gmu-136-map-1715576-preview-0.jpg?v=1763743227","url":"https:\/\/store.avenza.com\/products\/2025-colorado-hunt-map-gmu-136-map-the-xperience-map","provider":"Avenza Maps","version":"1.0","type":"link"}
