Each map includes spectacular 3D hillshade topography, contour lines, public-land ownership boundaries, major roads only, key terrain features, and hydrology. Federal lands include BLM, USFS, and others where applicable.\r\n\r\nLose yourself hunting Colorado’s wide-open country — yet NEVER GET LOST!\r\n\r\nGMU 99 lies east of I-25 in the northeastern plains of Colorado, encompassing portions of Sedgwick, Phillips, and Yuma Counties near the towns of Holyoke, Haxtun, Julesburg, and Ovid. The landscape is dominated by rolling prairie, irrigated cropland, CRP grasslands, and intermittent creek drainages, with a few areas of low sandhills and shelterbelts providing critical cover. It’s wide-open country that offers visibility, long stalks, and outstanding hunting opportunities across multiple species.\r\n\r\nThe unit supports strong populations of pronghorn (antelope) throughout its open farmland and native prairie, while mule deer frequent the draws, dry creek drainages, and agricultural edges. White-tailed deer are found mainly along irrigation ditches, shelterbelts, and creek bottoms near cropland. While nearly all of GMU 99 is privately owned, hunters can access productive areas through Colorado Parks \u0026amp; Wildlife’s Walk-In Access (WIA) program or by obtaining landowner permission.\r\n\r\nBecause GMU 99 sits within the South Platte Flyway, it also provides excellent upland and waterfowl hunting. Expect solid numbers of ring-necked pheasant, bobwhite quail, and mourning dove, along with seasonal concentrations of ducks and geese around ponds, reservoirs, and irrigated grain fields.\r\n\r\nWhy Hunters Trust Our Maps\r\n\r\nGPS-accurate and works offline in the free Avenza Map app\r\n\r\n3D hillshade topography and contour lines for terrain awareness\r\n\r\nPublic and private-land boundaries (state trust, county, and BLM where applicable) clearly displayed\r\n\r\nMajor roads only — no cluttered trail networks\r\n\r\nKey terrain features: Prairie drainages, CRP fields, shelterbelts, irrigation ditches, stock ponds, and farmland edges\r\n\r\nClean, easy-to-read format tailored for plains hunters\r\n\r\nMark your camp, harvest sites, glassing points, and bird-hunting areas\r\n\r\nCould save your life by allowing rescue personnel to pinpoint your exact location in an emergency\r\n\r\nRecommended Hunting Targets in GMU 99\r\n\r\nBig Game: Pronghorn (primary), Mule Deer, White-Tailed Deer (localized)\r\n\r\nBirds: Ring-Necked Pheasant, Bobwhite Quail, Dove, Ducks \u0026amp; Geese (seasonal and weather dependent)\r\n\r\nNote: Nearly all of GMU 99 is private farmland and ranchland. Hunters must secure landowner permission or use CPW Walk-In Access (WIA) parcels for legal entry. Antelope are widely distributed across the open prairie, while mule deer and whitetails favor areas with more cover and access to crops. Bird hunting is best in CRP, weedy stubble, and around grain fields near water.\r\n\r\nMobile Map Tips\r\n\r\nUse airplane mode to conserve battery life and turn off background apps. Carry a spare battery or solar charger—cell coverage can be sparse across the plains. For pronghorn, glass early and late from elevated vantage points; for upland birds, focus on CRP corners, weedy fencerows, and harvested fields near water or shelterbelts.","brand":"Map the Xperience","offers":[{"title":"Default Title","offer_id":45602514960540,"sku":"1713769","price":4.99,"currency_code":"USD","in_stock":true}],"thumbnail_url":"\/\/cdn.shopify.com\/s\/files\/1\/0441\/7850\/5884\/files\/map-the-xperience-gmu-99-1-map-1713769-preview-0_2cc2ce44-e642-48eb-b0e2-5b364ffedcc2.jpg?v=1763567352","url":"https:\/\/store.avenza.com\/products\/2025-colorado-hunt-map-gmu-99-map-the-xperience-map","provider":"Avenza Maps","version":"1.0","type":"link"}
