Each map includes spectacular 3D hillshade topography, contour lines, public-land ownership boundaries, major roads only, key terrain features, and hydrology. Federal lands include BLM, USFS, and others where applicable.

Lose yourself hunting Colorado’s wild country — yet NEVER GET LOST!

The GMU 26, 33 & 34 Bundle covers a prime section of west-central Colorado, surrounding the towns of Rifle, New Castle, Glenwood Springs, and Dotsero. This area features an incredible variety of terrain — from the White River National Forest’s alpine peaks and aspen basins to the BLM canyonlands and oakbrush foothills that drop toward the Colorado River. Known for its strong elk and mule deer populations, excellent public access, and diverse habitat, this bundle offers hunters some of the most reliable and scenic hunting opportunities in the state.
Elk are abundant throughout these units, with the White River elk herd — the largest in North America — migrating through the area. Early in the season, elk are found in high basins, aspen groves, and timbered ridges. As fall progresses, snow and pressure push them into the lower oakbrush, pinyon-juniper, and sagebrush country. Mule deer are equally common, with solid populations across all three units and excellent potential for mature bucks in the foothill and mid-elevation zones. Black bears are frequently encountered in the fall, particularly in the berry-producing slopes and oakbrush draws.

Each unit offers distinct terrain and hunting opportunities:

GMU 26 – Rugged high-country terrain north of Dotsero and Sweetwater; excellent elk hunting with large tracts of public land and moderate pressure.

GMU 33 – Surrounds New Castle and Rifle; a mix of aspen, oakbrush, and sage flats offering outstanding deer and elk habitat across accessible BLM and Forest Service lands.

GMU 34 – Lies north of Glenwood Springs and south of Rifle; features broken country of timbered ridges, draws, and mesas with consistent elk movement and excellent mule deer hunting.

Together, these units create a vast, interconnected hunting region that’s ideal for both backcountry and road-access hunters — a perfect balance of rugged wilderness and convenient accessibility.

Why Hunters Trust Our Maps

GPS-accurate and works offline in the free Avenza Map app

3D hillshade topography and contour lines for terrain awareness

Public-land and private-land boundaries (USFS, BLM, state, county) clearly displayed

Major roads only (for orientation) – no unnecessary clutter

Key terrain features: canyons, ridgelines, drainages, meadows, and wilderness access points

Clear, easy-to-read format built for hunters

Mark your camp, glassing points, harvest sites, and scouting routes

Could save your life by allowing rescue personnel to pinpoint your exact location in an emergency

Recommended Hunting Targets in GMUs 26, 33 & 34

Big Game: Elk (primary, over-the-counter), Mule Deer (secondary), Black Bear (common)
Birds & Small Game: Dusky (Blue) Grouse, Merriam’s Turkey, Cottontail Rabbit, Coyote

Note: The GMU 26/33/34 region offers abundant public access, excellent game density, and diverse terrain ranging from high mountain timber to open sage country. Weather can change rapidly, especially at higher elevations, and late-season snow often pushes elk into lower BLM lands. Always verify property boundaries before hunting, as private parcels and energy-development areas are common along the valley floors.

Mobile Map Tips: Use your phone in airplane mode to conserve battery. Turn off unnecessary apps. Carry a spare battery or solar charger—essential for long days in remote terrain. Mark your trailheads, routes, and camps before heading out, and always check local weather, road closures, and fire restrictions before hunting in the White River region.
//cdn.shopify.com/s/files/1/0441/7850/5884/files/20151202082502White-River-Management-Area-B_6f85c453-1aec-4207-923d-9675ad53c05b.jpg?v=1761743281
https://store.avenza.com/products/2025-colorado-hunt-maps-gmu-26-33-34-map-bundle-map-the-xperience-map
