Each map includes 3D hillshade, contour lines, public and private land boundaries, major roads only, hydrology, and essential terrain features. Lose yourself in Wyoming’s open basin and desert country—yet NEVER GET LOST.\r\n\r\nWyoming Antelope Area 53, known as Baggs, lies in southwestern Wyoming within Carbon County, centered around the town of Baggs and extending across the Little Snake River basin near the Colorado border. This unit represents classic high-desert pronghorn habitat and is defined by rolling sagebrush plains, broad open basins, native grasslands, low ridgelines, shallow draws, badlands, and river-influenced terrain along the Little Snake River and its tributaries. The landscape is expansive and open, offering long sightlines and excellent visibility across much of the unit.\r\n\r\nPronghorn in the Baggs unit typically bed on open benches, gentle ridges, and broad hillsides where they can see long distances in every direction. During warmer parts of the day, antelope often use shallow draws, river bottoms, badland breaks, and subtle terrain folds for shade and wind relief. Morning and evening movement is common across sagebrush flats, grassy benches, basin bottoms, and agricultural edges, particularly near water sources, hay ground, and irrigated fields associated with the Little Snake River corridor.\r\n\r\nHunting Area 53 strongly favors long-range glassing and patient spot-and-stalk tactics. Hunters commonly glass from basin rims, subtle high points, low ridgelines, and badland edges, using optics to locate animals moving across open terrain. Successful stalks rely on shallow draws, terrain rolls, badland cuts, fence lines, river breaks, and elevation changes to stay concealed. Wind direction is a constant factor in this exposed environment, and patience is often more effective than aggressive movement. Ambush opportunities may exist near water sources, fence crossings, and natural travel corridors connecting feeding and bedding areas.\r\n\r\nLandownership in Area 53 is a mix of private land, State Trust parcels, and scattered public ground, with ownership patterns varying across the basin. Public access can be fragmented, making permission and strict boundary awareness essential. Our map clearly displays all public and private land boundaries, access routes, hydrology, and terrain features needed to confidently and legally navigate this property-sensitive landscape.\r\n\r\nHunters rely on our maps because they provide precise, GPS-accurate tracking in the Avenza app even without cell service—essential in wide-open desert basin country where landmarks are subtle and distances deceptive. The 3D hillshade layer highlights basin edges, badland breaks, shallow draws, river corridors, benches, and elevation changes, helping hunters read pronghorn movement and plan effective stalks. The clean layout avoids clutter while delivering every essential detail for marking glassing points, water sources, access routes, stalk paths, and harvest locations.\r\n\r\nFor best field performance, download your map before entering the unit, place your device in airplane mode to conserve battery life, and carry a backup power source. Pre-marking access points, property boundaries, glassing locations, water sources, and likely travel routes will greatly improve efficiency and success while hunting the Baggs antelope unit.","brand":"Map the Xperience","offers":[{"title":"Default Title","offer_id":45851479900316,"sku":"1727622","price":4.99,"currency_code":"USD","in_stock":true}],"thumbnail_url":"\/\/cdn.shopify.com\/s\/files\/1\/0441\/7850\/5884\/files\/map-the-xperience-2025-wyoming-hunt-map-antelope-area-53-baggs-map-1727622-preview-0_0e4a2f5d-04f8-48a3-938f-21197bfe730c.jpg?v=1766499587","url":"https:\/\/store.avenza.com\/products\/2025-wyoming-hunt-map-antelope-area-53-baggs-map-the-xperience-map","provider":"Avenza Maps","version":"1.0","type":"link"}
