Each map includes 3D hillshade, contour lines, public and private land boundaries, major roads only, hydrology, and essential terrain features. Lose yourself in Wyoming’s wide-open antelope country—yet NEVER GET LOST.\r\n\r\nWyoming Antelope Area 78, known as McCullough Peaks, is located in north-central Wyoming within Park County, east of Cody and south of the Shoshone River. This unit lies within the Bighorn Basin and is defined by rugged badlands, sharply eroded ridges, deep cuts, narrow drainages, rolling desert benches, and wide sagebrush basins. McCullough Peaks is one of Wyoming’s most visually striking antelope units, offering a mix of open visibility and highly broken terrain that provides both opportunity and challenge for hunters.\r\n\r\nPronghorn in Area 78 commonly bed on open benches, ridge tops, and elevated flats where visibility is greatest. During warmer parts of the day, antelope often drop into badland cuts, drainage bottoms, shaded north-facing slopes, and terrain folds to escape heat and wind. Morning and evening movement is frequent across basin floors, rolling sage flats, and open parks, especially along natural travel corridors created by ridges, drainages, and fence lines.\r\n\r\nHunting Area 78 favors long-range glassing combined with deliberate spot-and-stalk tactics. Hunters often glass from high ridgelines, badland rims, and elevated benches overlooking the basin and cut terrain. Successful stalks rely heavily on using deep erosion cuts, narrow drainages, terrain breaks, ridge spines, and elevation changes to stay concealed—often allowing hunters to close distance more effectively here than in flatter desert units. Wind direction remains a major factor, especially on exposed ridges and basin floors. Ambush opportunities may exist near water developments, drainage crossings, fence gaps, and natural movement funnels between badland systems.\r\n\r\nLand ownership in Area 78 includes a mix of public land, State Trust parcels, and private holdings, with boundary patterns that can be complex in the badlands. Public access is generally good, but careful attention to land ownership is essential. Our map clearly displays land boundaries, access routes, hydrology, and terrain features, allowing hunters to navigate confidently and legally through this rugged landscape.\r\n\r\nHunters rely on our maps because they provide precise, GPS-accurate tracking in the Avenza app—even without cell service—critical in McCullough Peaks where terrain can be confusing and distances deceptive. The 3D hillshade layer vividly highlights ridgelines, erosion cuts, benches, basin edges, and drainage systems, helping hunters interpret antelope movement and plan efficient glassing and stalk routes. The clean, uncluttered layout delivers all essential details for marking access points, glassing locations, water sources, stalk paths, and harvest sites.\r\n\r\nFor best field performance, download your map before entering the unit, place your device in airplane mode to conserve battery life, and carry a backup power source. Pre-marking access points, property boundaries, glassing knobs, water sources, and likely travel routes will greatly improve efficiency and success while hunting the McCullough Peaks antelope unit.","brand":"Map the Xperience","offers":[{"title":"Default Title","offer_id":45862852395164,"sku":"1728344","price":4.99,"currency_code":"USD","in_stock":true}],"thumbnail_url":"\/\/cdn.shopify.com\/s\/files\/1\/0441\/7850\/5884\/files\/map-the-xperience-2025-wyoming-hunt-map-antelope-area-78-mccullough-peaks-map-1728344-preview-0_8e35b01e-701a-4863-982b-b5deb2669e83.jpg?v=1767028046","url":"https:\/\/store.avenza.com\/products\/2025-wyoming-hunt-map-antelope-area-78-mccullough-peaks-map-the-xperience-map","provider":"Avenza Maps","version":"1.0","type":"link"}
