{"product_id":"clct-pratt-preserve-trails-canton-land-conservation-trust-map","title":"CLCT Pratt Preserve Trails","description":"In 2022, the Canton Land Conservation Trust decided to add a new trail to the location known as Pratt Preserve (84 Cherry Brook Road, Canton CT). The trail is identified as Pratt Place on this map, but was recently named after a Native American who lived in the area in the late 1600s. His name was Waquaheag, although existing locals know him better as Cherry. This new trail starts at a brand-new bridge and is a loop, 1.4 miles in length. Eventually, we will construct the parking lot near Cherry Brook Road and the trail will start at the parking lot, go down to the bridge crossed the bridge follow the loop and return for total distance of 1.7 miles.\r\nIn 2023, CLCT added a short new loop trail called the Horseshoe loop, blazed in red, which starts and ends at the Waquaheag trail. The name is derived from the fact that trail goes through an old horseshoe pit which has been refurbished.\r\nAlso in 2023, we added in approximately hundred foot long cut off along the blue-blazed Waquaheag trail, for hikers who would like to take a slightly shorter route and avoid the steeper section.
