As South Cumberland grew to protect more than 30,000 acres, Tennessee State Parks took steps to ensure each area of the park receives the dedicated management, resources, and conservation it deserves.   \r\n\r\nThat vision led to the creation of three distinct parks: \r\n\r\nSavage Gulf, established as a new park in 2022  \r\nFiery Gizzard, which adopted the name of its nationally recognized trail in 2025  \r\nHead of the Crow, the newest Tennessee state park, opened in October 2025 \r\nFiery Gizzard State Park is located in two different Tennessee counties: Grundy and Marion. The park is composed of approximately 7,811 acres and boasts some of the best hiking and backcountry camping in the region. There are lots of areas to explore, including Fiery Gizzard, Denny Cove, and the Historical Grundy Lakes.\r\n\r\nThe Fiery Gizzard State Park Visitor’s Center, located at 11745 US 41, Monteagle, TN 37356, offers interpretative exhibits, a gift shop, and provides information on all three distinct parks in the South Cumberland. The Visitor Center is a great place to have a picnic, wander down the Storybook Trail, or visit the park's aviary. Also located outside the Visitor’s Center are various recreation fields, including a playground, basketball, beach volleyball, tennis, and pickleball. Equipment can be rented for free from the front desk. \r\n\r\nFiery Gizzard State Park has three picnic pavilions for larger parties that can be reserved online. There are also four other small picnic areas with grills located throughout the park. \r\n\r\nPrimitive camping at the Foster Falls Campground and backcountry camping are popular activities at Fiery Gizzard. The primitive campsites at Foster Falls are drive-up, while all of the backcountry campsites at the park require hiking to reach. Reservations are required for all campsites at the park and can be made online.\r\n\r\nFiery Gizzard Trail\r\nThe Fiery Gizzard Trail is a 13-mile-long one-way trail connecting the Grundy Forest and Foster Falls. Hikers may swim in Fiery Gizzard Creek and observe spectacular rock formations, cascading streams, waterfalls, rocky gorges, panoramic overlooks, and lush woodlands. Backpacker magazine has rated this trail one of the Top 25 in the country and should not be missed!\r\n\r\nHistorical Grundy Lakes\r\nGrundy Lakes, a day-use area near Tracy City, provides swimming, picnicking, fishing, hiking, and a view of 19th-century coke ovens.\r\n\r\nDenny Cove\r\nDenny Cove is located less than two miles south of Foster Falls. It is home to well over 100 established sport climbing routes, as well as several challenging traditional climbs. The Denny Cove Trailhead is composed of four different trail segments and features scenic views, including the Denny Overlook and Denny Falls.","brand":"Tennessee State Parks","offers":[{"title":"Default Title","offer_id":45519642951836,"sku":"1713384","price":0.0,"currency_code":"USD","in_stock":true}],"thumbnail_url":"\/\/cdn.shopify.com\/s\/files\/1\/0441\/7850\/5884\/files\/tennessee-state-parks-fiery-gizzard-state-park-visitor-center-map-1713384-preview-0_3907d104-a7a5-423e-9f56-71e564d0b722.jpg?v=1762530972","url":"https:\/\/store.avenza.com\/products\/fiery-gizzard-state-park-visitor-center-tennessee-state-parks-map","provider":"Avenza Maps","version":"1.0","type":"link"}
