{"product_id":"john-b-staalesen-vanderheyden-preserve-hudson-taconic-lands-map","title":"John B. Staalesen Vanderheyden Preserve","description":"Bordered by the Wynants Kill, “Staalesen” is one of few remaining tracts of natural area and wildlife habitat in Troy. A network of walking paths allows visitors to walk, snowshoe, cross-country ski, watch birds, and just enjoy the peaceful scenery. One path passes through a streamside forest of cottonwood and silver maple on its way to the shore of the Wynants Kill.  \r\n\r\nBacking up to two neighborhoods, Staalesen is in walking distance for many Troy residents. The easy trails are suitable for families with young children and elders.  A Capital Roots Community Garden sits at the main entrance. \r\n\r\nAt one time, the property was part of the Troy Orphan Asylum, renamed Vanderheyden Hall in 1942 in honor of the Van Der Heyden family, founders of Troy. Part of the preserve has an open, park‐like feel due to its history of human activity. The remainder of the property is wilder, with lush floodplain forest along the winding creek. The preserve is home to a variety of wildlife, including deer, pileated woodpecker, wild turkey, and belted kingfisher.","brand":"Hudson Taconic Lands","offers":[{"title":"Default Title","offer_id":45210299203740,"sku":"1708321","price":0.0,"currency_code":"USD","in_stock":true}],"thumbnail_url":"\/\/cdn.shopify.com\/s\/files\/1\/0441\/7850\/5884\/files\/hudson-taconic-lands-john-b-staalesen-vanderheyden-preserve-map-1708321-preview-0_b30a5949-4a1c-4221-975a-bc9ce575910b.jpg?v=1755807637","url":"https:\/\/store.avenza.com\/products\/john-b-staalesen-vanderheyden-preserve-hudson-taconic-lands-map","provider":"Avenza Maps","version":"1.0","type":"link"}
