The New Indian Express recently reported on how Odisha Forest Department uses Avenza Maps to improve wildfire prevention and response efforts. The Avenza Maps app helps the department track, manage, and protect fire-prone zones more effectively.
Last year, the Paralakhemundi forest division in Odisha used Avenza Maps to monitor and position fire lines—strategic barriers that prevent fires from spreading. Following its success, the Principal Chief Conservator of Forests announced that more forest divisions across Odisha will start using Avenza Maps this season.
As the wildfire season starts on January 1, 2025, Avenza Maps will play a key role in Odisha’s fire prevention strategy, supporting better environmental protection and resource management in the region.
