This app is generally terrific, but coverage is only good on the beach, meaning that once you are lost in the marsh and forest, you have to find your way to the beach before you can begin to find your way back to your car. I grew up in this area, and was still hard-pressed to end my afternoon walk before sundown. The shifting sands make for a lot of false trails. Following the horse tracks makes for stuck boots. Pink ribbons and blue stakes mark different trails. Being aware out the outset could make for a simple out-and-back, but be aware that there is a dead zone in the middle — don’t rely on Avenza!
