In mid-July, nearly 500 wildfires across Canada were ignited by lightning strikes, and Avenza Maps played a critical role in firefighting efforts during the Argenta Creek wildfire in British Columbia. Developed in collaboration between Living Lakes Canada and the Argenta Safety and Preparedness Society (ASAP), maps detailing local water sources, pump deployment sites, and access routes were integrated into the Avenza Maps app. These maps provided crucial, real-time information to BC Wildfire Service crews and local volunteers, enhancing their ability to combat the fire. The resource, praised for its precision, helped streamline the firefighting response and protect the Argenta community.
